“In every walk with Nature, one receives far more than he seeks”
John Muir
Nature and Forest Therapy, also referred to as Forest Bathing, is a guided immersive experience in a natural setting, promoting health and wellness in body, mind and spirit. A Forest Therapy Guide is not a therapist. The Forest is the therapist. The guide simply opens the doors for one to receive the medicine of the forest.
More than just a walk in the woods, and unlike a hike, there is no destination. The skilled guide, trained to work in partnership with the land, facilitates connections with Nature by offering a series of invitations that encourages sensory openings, embodiment and being in the here and now.
Nature and Forest Therapy walks have provided people with a wide range of experiences, some of which they feel significant, even profound. Guides are supportive witnesses and space holders as these experiences tend not to be rooted in the intellect and it is not unusual for people to establish or re-establish relationships with themselves and the more than human world.
